Eligibility Requirements  Applicants must be current residents of one of the five boroughs and must remain in New York City for the entire year of the fellowship. Students in degree-granting programs are not eligible to apply. This program supports emerging writers whose work shows promise of excellence. Applicants can be of any age, but must be in the early stages of their careers as fiction writers and will not have had the support needed to achieve major recognition for their work. They define “emerging writer” as someone who has not yet had a novel or short story collection published by either a major or independent publisher, and who is also not currently under contract to a publisher for a work of fiction. Eligible applicants may have had stories or novel excerpts published in magazines, literary journals or online, but this is not a requirement. If at any point during the judging process an applicant signs a contract for publication or accepts an offer to study in a degree-granting program, he or she must alert us immediately to have the application pulled from consideration. The Eisner Prize Fellowship is a new program designed to support leaders pioneering innovations in intergenerational connection. Since 2011, the Eisner Foundation has awarded the Eisner Prize to honor people and organizations doing exceptional intergenerational work across the country. In this next phase in the evolution of the Eisner Prize, The Eisner Foundation is providing financial resources, networking opportunities, and the prestige of the Eisner Prize to leaders with new ideas and perspectives that will propel the field forward. The Eisner Prize Fellows application is open to anyone working to innovate in the area of intergenerational connection – whether that be through research, programs, technology, or other efforts advancing the field. Young people, people of color, and those working with historically marginalized communities are particularly encouraged to apply. Poynter Reporting Grants for Transgender Coverage Grant Amount: $10,000 to $15,000 (three grants available) Eligibility: Reporters planning projects on all platforms (online, radio, video, print). Must have attended or watched both Beat Academy Transgender Coverage webinars. If not attended, enroll in the course. Support: One-on-one coaching available as needed. Focus: Strong applications focus on concrete local examples of transgender issues. Focus can be personal, family, community, or state level. Emphasis on a crisp story pitch, clear reporting plan, and evidence of reporting skill. Projects should be completed by December 31, 2024. Application Details: Applications due by May 3, 2024. The American Horticultural Society proudly offers the Julia Rappaport Growing Gardeners Fund, aimed at fostering a lifelong passion for gardening and horticulture among youth. The Miller / Packan Film Fund, financed through the Rogovy Foundation, supports documentaries that Educate, Inspire, and Enrich. Each year, grants totaling $200,000 are awarded to between eight and twelve filmmakers. The fund operates an open call submission process, and awards are announced bi-annually. Each grant is one-time only and offered in amounts up to $25,000. Submissions for the 2024 Summer Awards are accepted until May 15th, 2024. The fund seeks projects that address social issues in the subject categories of Education, the Environment, and Civics. Filmmakers must be at least 18 years old and the film must be feature-length (at least 70 minutes). International projects with global audience appeal are eligible. The project must have IRS 501(c)(3) status or a Fiscal Sponsor. Non-English language films are eligible but must have English subtitles. Student films and completed films are ineligible. The application requires a narrative description of the project, logline, story summary/synopsis, topic summary, artistic approach, project stage information, key creative personnel bios, audience and distribution strategies, financial information including fundraising strategy and grant impact details, visual sample or rough cut of the film with description and director's prior work sample if available, contact information of the applicant(s), comprehensive line item expense budget including a top sheet summary and detailed breakdown of all expenses from development through release in U.S. dollars using a provided template or similar format, statement of interest explaining how the project relates to the Ideals and Values of the Rogovy Foundation. The selection process is conducted by the staff of the Rogovy Film Fund based on criteria such as compelling story premise aligned with Fund's Ideals and Values and strength of proposal.
