The UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour Award is currently accepting nominations for its 2024 round. The award recognizes individuals and institutions that have made outstanding contributions to urban development, including improving the quality of urban life and providing adequate, affordable, and accessible housing. Nominations must come from third parties before the deadline of May 17, 2024. The winners, selected by the Executive Director of UN-Habitat following recommendations by a panel of experts, will receive the UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour Award at the global celebration of World Habitat Day in Querétaro City, Mexico, on October 7, 2024. The award considers best practices and initiatives aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 11 on sustainable cities and communities. The Community Pride Foundation offers grants to support youth activities that encompass arts, athletics/sports, education, and leadership. The U.S. Embassy Kingston Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Department of State is pleased to announce that funding is available through its Public Diplomacy Grants Program. Priority program areas include: • Climate, Environment, and Energy o For example, addressing the climate crisis, responding to natural disasters, conserving nature, water security, sustainable agriculture, reducing harmful pollutants, energy resilience, and renewable energy. • Combating Financial Scamming and Other Criminal Activity o For example, addressing corruption and money laundering, improving police-public relations, appreciation of the law, teaching digital literacy, detecting financial scamming, and promoting behaviors that increase community safety. • Programs for At-Risk Youth o For example, diversion programs to prevent youth violence, educational programs for critical life skills, and parent/family interventions. • Economic Prosperity o For example, business development, closing skills gaps in local communities, human resources, infrastructure, cybersecurity, resource development, and trade. • Global Health o For example, managing contagious and infectious diseases, public health workforce development, and public health policy and management. • Gender Issues o For example, women’s empowerment, improving outcomes for marginalized male youth, addressing gender-based violence, and LGBTQIA+ issues. • Human Rights and Democracy o For example, addressing fundamental human rights, human trafficking, immigration, refugees, governance, the role of civil society, and freedom of the press/media. Five Illinois counties, Alexander, Hardin, Pulaski, Gallatin and Saline; face a fundamental lack of mental health services for justice-involved youth; often having to take juveniles out of the home county for services. If the juveniles are in need of anything greater than outpatient treatment, these youth are sent outside of their home county and sent up to central Illinois, many miles away. Lack of social services coupled with the lack of public transportation, can make it very difficult for juveniles to access resources to avoid entering the Juvenile Justice system in the first place or to succeed while in the system.

The Otto Bremer Trust is a private charitable trust based in St. Paul, Minn. Typical uses could include support for an organization’s administrative and infrastructure costs, maintaining core programs and/or staffing. This application is for organizations seeking $75,000 or more in general operations support. - General Operations Short Application: This application is for organizations seeking general operations support of less than $75,000. - Restricted Application: Restricted grants provide funding for a specific program or project. These funds may not be used for other purposes, although a portion may be utilized for overhead or indirect costs of administering the program or project. - Capital Application: Capital grants support constructing, repairing, renovating, or rehabilitating an organization’s physical space. Capital grants can also support the purchase of equipment necessary for an organization to carry out its work.
