Private Community Development Grants

The Garden Conservancy is now accepting applications for our 2024 Garden Futures Grants. These grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations and small public gardens across the United States that are either: 1) Making a significant impact in their communities through garden-based programming, with a focus on diverse populations; or 2) Contributing to the study and preservation of garden history. Grant Considerations: Grants are for general operating support and typically range from $5,000-$10,000. Organizations with an annual operating budget of $1 million or less will be prioritized. Organizations must either be a 501(c)3 OR apply through a fiscal sponsor that is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code to be considered. Please note: Organizations that have received a grant from the Garden Conservancy within the past three years are ineligible for this grant cycle. Applications will be reviewed by committee and recipients will be notified in July 2024. DEADLINE TO APPLY: May 20, 2024

The Arts Foundation for Tucson and Southern Arizona, with support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the City of Tucson, and Pima County will accept proposals for funding from arts and culture organizations in Tucson and Southern Arizona. The Arts Foundation will steward local, regional and federal funds to complement a 3-year initiative to equitably rebuild arts economies in the borderlands and strengthen civic participation. Operating Support Grants will invest in Southern Arizona’s arts economy to 1) Restore/create jobs and 2) Incentivize arts & civic engagement. The grant program is open to 501(c)3 Arts Organizations located within the Arts Foundation’s service area, which includes counties and Tribal Nations that reside between the southern edges of the Gila River to the US-Mexico international border. *Fiscally sponsored organizations residing within Pima County may apply. Operating Support Grants intend to make awards that will impact a broad constituency. This includes a wide geographic range and organizations that support underserved populations such as those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics, or disability. Applicants will be asked to complete an online form including contact information, artistic mission, arts programming, demographics, and budget.

The Child Care Infrastructure Grant program is offered by an organization called CEI Maine. The grant provides funding for organizations that are purchasing furniture, fixtures, and enrolling in an existing child care business, with the requirement of demonstrating at least a 25% increase in enrollment within four months. The grant award can cover up to 50% of the costs, with a maximum award of $25,000. The funds can be used for various purposes, including purchasing educational materials, fees for using existing business practices, renovations, buying additional indoor activities, and procuring health and safety supplies. Priority will be given to applications from specific counties in Maine, and bonus points will be awarded to applicants providing care for infants, toddlers, income-eligible families, and participating in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program. The application process consists of two steps, with the first step being the Facility Acquisition Application 1, which includes basic requirements for licensing, and the second step being the Facility Acquisition Application 2, which requires a description of transition and growth plans. The application deadline for both steps is either June 30, 2024, or until all funds are awarded. The application processing time is expected to take up to five weeks.

The 2024 BLOOM Grant Program aims to support small businesses in York County, Pennsylvania, by providing grants to improve productivity, expand services, or enhance their operations. Eligible applicants must be for-profit businesses located in York County, have generated revenue as of January 1, 2024, and employ no more than 50 full or part-time employees. Grants, ranging from $500 to $1,500, are intended for tangible business improvements such as renovations, equipment upgrades, and marketing expenses. Funds must be utilized within six months, and applicants must match 10% of the grant's capital value. Priority is given to businesses that have not previously received a BLOOM grant, as well as those owned by women, veterans, and Black, Indigenous, or People of Color.

Stated pools and request ranges include, among others, 1,000,000 dollars for nonprofit general and special focus with requests between 100,000 and 200,000 dollars, 500,000 dollars for educational organizations with requests between 75,000 and 150,000 dollars, 4,500,000 dollars for CDFIs with no fixed request limits, and 1,000,000 dollars for youth programming with requests from 20,000 to 200,000 dollars. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) organizations, educational organizations described in Section 170(b)(1)(A)(ii), community development financial institutions including certified and emerging Native CDFIs that are 501(c)(3), and instrumentalities of federally recognized tribes meeting the fund’s charitable and reporting requirements including limited waivers as applicable. The program aligns with the trust agreement’s definitions and restrictions. Applications are due May 1, 2024. Typical award sizes for some pools range from 100,000 to 500,000 dollars depending on entity type and focus.
