The Catholic Community Foundation of Mid-Michigan (the “Foundation”) was incorporated in 2006 for the purpose of advancing the outreach of the Church in central Michigan. By supporting individual parishes, Catholic institutions and Diocesan ministries, the Foundation is able to help the Church better serve the needs of its parishioners. The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is governed by an independent board of trustees. Most of the funds of the Foundation are “restricted” endowments, with distributions designated by donors to specific ministries or organizations. The Foundation’s endowments support parishes and individuals across the Saginaw Diocese by providing ongoing funding for religious education, priest retirement, seminarian education, cemeteries, faith formation, and other ministries. The Foundation has a modest amount of grant money available for distribution. The following policies and procedures have been adopted in managing grant distributions.

The Koch Family Foundation's grant program aims to foster a vibrant and inclusive community within Kansas. This mission aligns with the foundation's core belief that every individual possesses unique gifts and talents. The foundation's strategic priority is to "unleash" these abilities by supporting programs that create opportunities for all people to develop their full potential and make lasting contributions to society. This theory of change suggests that by empowering individuals, the foundation can contribute to a stronger and more dynamic community. The target beneficiaries of this grant program are individuals within Kansas, although grants are awarded to charitable organizations (501(c)(3)) that serve these individuals, not directly to individuals themselves. The overarching impact goal is to enable people to reach their full potential, thereby contributing positively to society. The foundation focuses on programs that facilitate development and allow for meaningful societal contributions. The foundation prioritizes initiatives that align with its goal of individual empowerment and community building. It explicitly states what it does not fund, which helps to define its focus areas by exclusion. These excluded areas include individual support (with the exception of the Koch Scholarship Awards Program), individual schools and churches, venture capital, athletic associations, trip sponsorships, initiatives outside Kansas, political or lobbying activities, endowment funds, and capital campaigns. This indicates a focus on program-specific funding that directly impacts people's development and contribution within the state. Expected outcomes and measurable results are broadly tied to the development of abilities and the making of lasting contributions to society. While the provided text does not specify quantitative metrics, the qualitative goals are clear: fostering individual potential and societal contribution. Organizations seeking funding would likely need to demonstrate how their programs lead to these outcomes, aligning with the foundation's strategic priorities and its theory that empowering individuals strengthens the community.
