This competitive grant offering is designed to fund construction projects that establish new or expand existing HHW programs in California. HHW construction projects do not qualify for CalRecycle grant funding unless they are past the design phase of the project and are prepared for construction (shovel ready). Applicants must have completed proper site analysis, conceptual design and most of the local approval processes. The permitting, licensing and siting approval process must be well underway. Applicants must provide documentation by providing a completed General Checklist of Business Permits, Licenses and Filings form (CalRecycle 669). The applicant must convincingly indicate that they are beyond the planning phase of the construction project and can successfully complete the HHW construction project before the Grant Term ends (date of Notice to Proceed email to September 30, 2026). Grant applications must indicate one of the following types of projects: (1) Construction of a new Permanent HHW Collection Facility or Recycle-Only HHW Collection Facility; or (2) A construction project that expands/upgrades an existing Permanent HHW Collection Facility or Recycle-Only Collection Facility. A Resolution is required by the secondary due date.

The Employment Development Department (EDD), in coordination with the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency (LWDA), announces the availability of up to $1 million in California State General Funds for the Evaluation and Technical Assistance (ETA) for the Displaced Oil and Gas Worker Fund (DOGWF). The DOGWF ETA PY 23-24 awardee will be responsible for providing evaluation and technical assistance for DOGWF PY 23-24 program awardees as they pioneer initiatives that guide displaced oil and gas workers into new jobs and career trajectories by extending beyond singular sectors, committed to securing stable, well-compensated, and gratifying roles for these workers across diverse industries. The DOGWF ETA PY 23-24 grant aims to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of DOGWF projects. The initiative seeks to fund an organization with expertise in assessing program and operational capacity, facilitating Communities of Practice (CoPs), conducting a developmental evaluation for continuous learning and improvement, and addressing the needs of displaced workers impacted by energy sector shifts for future policy and program planning. In addition, the ETA awardee will support program grantees with developing and implementing strategies for partnership development, participant assessment, skills transfer, career navigation, administering training stipends, providing wrap-around support, identifying relevant career pathways and training programs, and guidance on participant tracking and performance outcomes reporting. Applicants for the DOGWF ETA must be organizations with the capacity, relationships, and expertise to deliver ETA to grantees across the state. Proposals from non-profit or for-profit consulting, technical assistance, evaluation, capacity-building organizations, labor organizations, community colleges, adult education providers, workforce boards, and education and training providers will be accepted. Summer Meal Program Expansion Grant Applications for the new Summer Meal Program Expansion Grant program are now open through May 7! Program Overview: The Iowa Department of Education has received $900,000 to support the enhancement and expansion of summer meal programs in currently underserved and eligible areas. Program Details: Funding Source: $900,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Purpose: Enhance and expand summer meal programs in underserved areas. Target Audience: Iowa children ages 18 and under. Programs Supported: Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and Seamless Summer Option (SSO). Grant Opportunity: Provides additional revenue source for summer meal programs beyond federal meal reimbursement. Allowable Expenses: Enhancing meal quality, incorporating locally grown foods, updating program equipment, conducting program outreach, and operational/administrative personnel expenses not fully covered through meal reimbursement. The Recreational Trails Program (RTP), managed by the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT) and federally supported, funds the construction and maintenance of motorized and non-motorized recreational trails and related facilities in Arkansas. Goals of the program include: 1. enhance access to recreational, historic, cultural and scenic resources; 2. strengthen community ties to the water’s edge and economic benefits; 3. promote public/private partnerships and entrepreneurial opportunities; 4. provide continuity of public access to the shore; and 5. promote awareness of transient boating opportunities.

The Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) Program, managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), is a state-financed grant initiative designed to assist local government agencies in acquiring and/or developing land for public parks and open spaces. This program aligns with a mission to enhance community access to outdoor recreational opportunities and preserve natural resources throughout Illinois. The primary beneficiaries of the OSLAD grants are units of local government authorized to expend public funds for public outdoor park, recreation, or conservation purposes. This excludes school districts. The program aims to increase the availability of public parkland, improve existing recreational facilities, and protect natural areas. Expected outcomes include expanded park sites, renovated recreational facilities, and preserved natural resources, leading to improved quality of life and access to nature for Illinois residents. The program prioritizes both land acquisition and development/renovation projects. Acquisition projects focus on securing land for new park sites, park expansion, water frontage, nature study, and natural resource preservation. Development/renovation projects encompass a wide range of improvements, including picnic and playground facilities, outdoor nature interpretive facilities, sports courts and play fields, swimming pools, campgrounds, winter sports facilities, park roads, parking, utilities, and restrooms. Measurable results include the number of acres acquired for public use, the types and numbers of facilities developed or renovated, and the increase in public access points to natural areas. Funding is substantial, with up to $1,725,000.00 available for acquisition projects and a maximum of $600,000 for development/renovation projects, reflecting a strategic commitment to significant, impactful projects. While not explicitly detailed as a "theory of change," the program operates on the premise that investing in public outdoor spaces directly contributes to community well-being, environmental stewardship, and opportunities for recreation and education.

This funding provides up to $3.3 billion to cities, counties, and tribal entities in California to develop and improve facilities that expand behavioral health treatment and services for Medi-Cal beneficiaries.

On November 6, 2018, California voters passed Proposition 4, the Children's Hospital Bond Act of 2018. The purpose of the program is to improve the health and welfare of California’s critically ill children, by providing a stable and ready source of funds for capital improvement projects for eligible hospitals. The California Health Facilities Financing Authority (CHFFA) is responsible for administering the program. Language in Proposition 4 identifies 13 children’s hospitals in California (referred to as “Children’s Hospitals”) as eligible for $1.35 billion in funding. The 13 Children's Hospitals designated by statute are the same as the 13 hospitals that received grants under the first two Children’s Hospital Programs also administered by CHFFA and enacted by Proposition 61 in 2004 and Proposition 3 in 2008. The 13 Children’s Hospitals consist of eight private nonprofit Children’s Hospitals and five University of California Children’s Hospitals. Grant awards for each private nonprofit Children’s Hospital was limited to $135 million, less costs of issuance and administrative costs. Grant awards for each University of California Children’s Hospital was limited to $54 million, less costs of issuance and administrative costs. Costs of issuance are $0.75 per $1,000 of the authorized grant award and administrative costs are $10.00 per $1,000 of the authorized grant award. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis until June 30, 2033 and are due the first business day of each month, except October and November, and will be presented to the Authority the following month. For the month of October, Applications are due on October 7. Applications received on October 7 will be presented for Authority consideration at a regularly scheduled meeting in December or January. Applications are not accepted in November. Applications shall be submitted in duplicate to the Authority. Each Children’s Hospital may apply more than once.
