The goals of the ATP are to: •Increase the proportion of trips accomplished by biking and walking. •Increase the safety and mobility for nonmotorized users. •Advance the active transportation efforts of regional agencies to achieve greenhouse gas reduction goals as established pursuant to Senate Bill 375 (Chapter 728, Statutes of 2008) and Senate Bill 391 (Chapter 585, Statutes of 2009). •Enhance public health, including reduction of childhood obesity through the use of programs including, but not limited to, projects eligible for Safe Routes to School Program funding. •Ensure that disadvantaged communities fully share in the benefits of the program. •Provide a broad spectrum of projects to benefit many types of active transportation users.

Cross-boundary projects involving multiple land types are also emphasized, as are updates or development of new Community Wildfire Protection Plans (CWPPs). For planning grants, a cap of $250,000 is set for the total, with up to five proposals funded annually at a maximum of $50,000 each. Expected outcomes include a significant reduction in potential fire intensity and a decrease in the risk of catastrophic wildfires, directly benefiting public safety and property. Measurable results will be seen through the implementation of fuel breaks, successful fuels reduction projects in forests and grasslands, and the development or update of CWPPs. The long-term impact aims to foster more resilient ecosystems and secure water supplies for the community, aligning with a theory of change that proactive, collaborative mitigation efforts lead to enhanced environmental health and community safety.

The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs announces a Notice of Funding Availability of approximately $2,760,401 in HOME funds specifically set aside for single-family housing programs benefiting Persons with Disabilities (PWD).
