Local food is defined through this Program as food which is grown/produced and distributed within the Commonwealth. The local food system is a network of consumers, workers, businesses, owners, and supporting organizations engaged in an array of activities, including fishing, farming, preparing, marketing, distributing, serving, and eating food. This network works to produce and distribute food that nourishes the communities, sustains businesses and workers, and supports responsible stewardship of the land, water, and other natural resources. Eligible Projects  Eligible projects must be capital improvements including the purchase of equipment and contracted labor costs in order to implement projects, or costs associated with planning and design directly related to capital projects that will allow applicants to strengthen and improve the resiliency of the Commonwealth’s food system while allowing greater access to fresh, local food in a way that addresses systemic inequities. Target Population  The target population for these funds is the African community of all ages who reside in the District of Columbia. Eligibility Criteria  Applicants shall meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the FY2025 African Community Grant: The organization is a CBO with a Federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and is a licensed business with the District of Columbia’s Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection (DLCP); The organization’s principal place of business must be located in the District of Columbia; if the business is a national or regional organization, then it must have a location in the District through which it provides services; The organization must provide direct services to District residents or collaborate with an organization that provides services to District residents; All services and programming funded by the grant must be provided within the District of Columbia; The organization must be currently registered and in good standing with the DLCP, and the Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR). It is designed to help build a larger and more diverse and representative behavioral health workforce in California that hasthe training and supervision needed to engage directly with young people where they live, study and work. Wellness Coaches will offer non-clinical services that support children and youth behavioral health and well-being. Services include wellness promotion and education, screening, care coordination, individual and group support, and crisis referral. The model will supplement and support existing behavioral health roles, fill gaps in the current behavioral health workforce, and create a larger and more diverse workforce with whom youth can connect.
