The Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V) focuses on providing high-quality, comprehensive professional development for Career & Technical Education (CTE) teachers in Alaska. This initiative aims to integrate state academic standards with relevant technical knowledge and skills, prepare CTE educators to accommodate special populations, and ensure instructors remain updated with industry standards. Approximately $125,000 is available for FY25, anticipating up to five grants ranging from $10,000 to $25,000 each, to support intensive professional development in high-needs CTE areas determined by Perkins-receiving districts. Applications are due by May 3, 2024, with the grant period running from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. Proposals must deliver at least 40 hours of professional development and may include postsecondary credit options for participants.

The Quality Schools Grant Program, initiated in 1998, aims to enhance student achievement by systematically improving Alaska’s public schools. The program emphasizes the development of clear standards across various categories, including Student Standards (covering a wide range of subjects), Professional Standards, and Family, School, Business, and Community Networks, among others. Each Alaska School District is encouraged to allocate the provided funds towards initiatives that align with these categories to foster academic achievement. District entitlements are determined by multiplying the district’s adjusted ADM by $16, totaling approximately $4 million in annual allocations. Grant renewed every year. The Seward Community Foundation (SCF), an Affiliate of The Alaska Community Foundation (ACF), offers mini-grants up to $1,000 to support a wide array of community needs in Seward and/or Moose Pass. This flexible funding opportunity aims to support projects related to health and wellness, education, the great outdoors, arts and culture, and community development. Applications are reviewed monthly by the SCF Advisory Board, with a submission deadline on the 5th of each month. Grant renewed every year. The Seward Community Foundation (SCF) Annual Grant Program, an initiative under The Alaska Community Foundation (ACF), is designed to support a wide range of charitable activities in Seward and Moose Pass, including health and wellness, education, outdoor activities, arts and culture, animal welfare, and community development. This program is open to qualified, tax-exempt organizations such as 501(c)(3) entities, Tribal entities, schools, and faith-based organizations operating in or serving these communities. To be eligible for funding, applications must be submitted by 5:00 pm AKST on February 2, 2024. Grant projects or programs must be completed within one year of the award date, with the possibility of an extension approved by the SCF Advisory Board. Grant renewed every year. AgWest Farm Credit's New Producer Grant Program supports new agricultural producers who have two years or less of operational experience or plan to start their operation within two years of applying. The grant aims to alleviate the challenge of lacking start-up funds, celebrating the ingenuity and passion of new producers. Successful applicants will receive a one-time $15,000 grant to support their operation's growth. The grant focuses on applicants within AgWest Farm Credit’s territory who are not current lending customers and are U.S. citizens or lawful residents.

These grants aim to bring high-quality arts experiences to students and are part of the Cultural Collaborations program. Cultural Collaborations Grants The Cultural Collaborations and Arts Educator Fellowship Programs are made possible through support from the Rasmuson Foundation, administered by the Alaska State Council on the Arts. A school may apply for and receive an Arts Excursion grant, and a Project or Access Grant per school year. A school may also receive support for an Artists in Schools residency in the same school year, either as an individual school or through a district grant. The Arts Educator Fellowship program provides grants to certified, permanently-assigned, full and part-time K-12 teachers to immerse themselves in their own creative work, interact with professional artists, and stay current with new artistic practice. The Arts Educator Fellowship is meant to create opportunities for Alaska teachers to fill their own artistic wells. Eligible applicants may apply for up to $3,000 in support of Arts Educator Fellowship (AEF) activities, based on actual expenses.

Cultural Collaborations Excursion Grants Program in Alaska offers awards of up to $600 (or $1,000 for eligible Title I schools) to support transportation and admission costs for public or nonprofit schools attending arts and cultural events or visiting recognized venues in Alaska. Administered by the Alaska State Council on the Arts with support from Rasmuson Foundation, schools can apply for multiple activities within one grant application but are limited to one grant per school year.
