The goal of this award mechanism is to recruit exceptional faculty to universities and/or cancer research institutions in the State of Texas. This award honors outstanding senior investigators with proven track records of research accomplishments combined with excellence in leadership and teaching. All PIs should be recognized research or clinical investigators, held in the highest esteem by professional colleagues nationally and internationally, whose contributions have had a significant influence on their discipline and, likely, beyond. They must have clearly established themselves as exemplary faculty members with exceptional accomplishments in teaching and advising and/or basic, translational, population-based, or clinical cancer research activities. It is expected that the PI will contribute significantly to and have a major impact on the institution’s overall cancer research initiative. PIs will be leaders capable of initiating and developing creative ideas leading to novel solutions related to cancer prevention and control, detection, diagnosis, treatment, and/or survivorship. They are also expected to maintain and lead a strong research group and have a stellar, high-impact publication portfolio, as well as continue to secure external funding. Furthermore, recipients will lead and inspire undergraduate and graduate students interested in pursuing research careers and will engage in collegial and collaborative relationships with others within and beyond their traditional discipline in an effort to expand the boundaries of cancer research.

Notice of Funding Opportunity Summary This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NFO) is being released prior to appropriation and/or apportionment of funds for fiscal year 2024. Enactment of additional continuing resolutions or an appropriations act may affect the availability or level of funding for this program. The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), an agency under the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), is announcing the potential availability of funding for agreements for the purpose of leveraging NRCS resources, addressing local natural resource issues, encouraging collaboration and developing state-and-community-level conservation leadership. Federal Funding Floor and Ceiling Amounts The estimated funding floor for this opportunity is $25,000, and the estimated funding ceiling is $300,000. The funding floor means the minimum agreement funding amount for the Federal share per agreement awarded. The ceiling is the maximum agreement funding amount for the Federal share per agreement awarded. These numbers refer to the total agreement amount, not any specific budget period.

This grant provides funding to law enforcement agencies to cover travel costs for peace officers attending Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT). The funding aims to enhance the response capabilities of peace officers to active shooter and attack situations. The program supports overtime, travel expenditures, and training stipends for participating agencies and is open to law enforcement agencies operated by school districts, higher education institutions, local government units, and other educational entities employing peace officers. Training must comply with ALERRT's standards, and funds are allocated based on various eligibility criteria, including compliance with cybersecurity and UCR data reporting, adherence to federal and state immigration enforcement requirements, participation in the DPS Sexual Assault Evidence Tracking System, registration in the SAM database with a UEI number, and reporting of convictions to the DPS. The program prohibits the use of funds for indirect costs unrelated to travel and overtime for ALERRT training.

The ESF Focused Support Grant aims to provide resources and support to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to ensure campuses identified for improvement fully implement the Foundational Essential Actions in the ESF. This initiative seeks to significantly and sustainably improve student outcomes by supporting LEAs with Title I served campuses identified for federal improvement. The grant supports engagement in an ESF Diagnostic leading to a Targeted Improvement Plan (TIP) and collaboration with a Vetted Improvement Program (VIP) to enhance educational practices. The grant period extends until September 30, 2026, emphasizing substantial and supplementary support to identified campuses to foster educational excellence and equity.

This grant provides financial support to tax-exempt organizations to engage under-served populations in outdoor recreation, conservation, and environmental education across Texas.

The Defense Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant Program (DEAAG) is an infrastructure grant program aimed at supporting defense communities in Texas affected by changes in Department of Defense activities. This program offers financial assistance to local municipalities, counties, defense base development authorities, junior college districts, Texas State Technical College campuses, and regional planning commissions. DEAAG grants, ranging from $50,000 to $5 million per project, are available to meet matching requirements for federal funding. Grants are awarded based on criteria such as military value, project completion, dual benefit to military and community, alignment with the National Defense Strategy, support for new missions, resiliency, cost efficiency, impact significance, and funding contributions. The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) aims to fund the dissemination of successful cancer control interventions through its Dissemination of CPRIT-Funded Cancer Control Interventions (DI) award. This program supports the sharing and adoption of effective cancer prevention and control strategies across Texas, focusing on previously funded CPRIT projects. Eligible projects are those that have concluded within the last three years or are ongoing expansion efforts, with a funding cap of $450,000 over 36 months. The initiative stresses active dissemination strategies and the development of products with practical impact, targeting resource-limited and medically underserved areas.

This program provides funding to Texas public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools to replace or retrofit older diesel school buses, reducing children's exposure to harmful diesel exhaust.

This funding opportunity supports water conservation projects in Harris and Galveston Counties, prioritizing initiatives that promote best practices in residential, commercial, and irrigation water use, and is available to local water utilities, non-profits, public entities, and research universities.

EDA also makes Short-Term and State Planning awards for economic development planning activities that guide the eventual creation and retention of high-quality jobs, particularly for the unemployed and underemployed in the Nations most economically distressed regions.
