The purposes for which the nonprofit agency is organized provides benefits to Seminole County residents. The services or activities to be provided by the nonprofit agency, and funded with County funds, shall address community needs. Agencies providing services identified in the Community Needs Assessment will receive priority funding. The nonprofit agency shall have a governing board whose members serve without compensation and have no conflict of interest between their regular occupations and the services provided by the nonprofit. The nonprofit agency has bylaws or policies which describe the manner in which business is conducted, including management, audit, and fiscal policies and procedures, polices on nepotism, and policies on management of potential conflict of interest. The nonprofit has at least one year’s experience providing the service or activity for which the funds are requested or can otherwise demonstrate to the satisfaction of the County sufficient expertise to successfully carry out the service or activity. The nonprofit must be licensed and accredited in accordance with applicable requirements of Federal, State and County laws. The nonprofit agency may not use a funding agency or other third-party arrangement to meet program requirements for eligibility. Awarded funding cannot make up more than twenty-five (25) percent of an agency expenditures based on the prior year’s IRS 990 form. If the request exceeds twenty-five (25) percent, agency may still be funded, however, maximum award will not exceed the twenty-five (25) percent. Nonprofit must provide the previous year’s fundraising plan and a statement on future fundraising efforts. Only one application per agency will be considered. Grants will be made only to nonprofit agencies whose programs and activities benefit the residents of Seminole County. For profit-developer projects utilizing JAHF funds for middle-income housing must reserve at least 20% of units for tenants with gross incomes at 80% or less AMI for at least ten years or the life of the loan. Excellence in Strategic Action This award highlights organizations that have strategically expanded programming or pivoted to a new service delivery model to better meet a community need. Priority consideration will be given to projects that utilized data and metrics to identify a gap in service, aligned with community-wide planning efforts to ensure activities did not duplicate existing services and successfully implemented and sustained the expansion. It is anticipated that projects will still be active and have completed the strategic action within the past five years, but the committee will consider older initiatives as well.  Applications that address the following will receive priority consideration: Description – Describe how the opportunity for expansion or a new approach to service delivery was identified.  Detail the planning and implementation process. Clearly identify the need that was addressed through the strategic action including, but not limited to, reaching participants in an underserved geography, reaching a specific demographic or pursuing a policy change, etc. Note how the action has been sustained. Results – Describe how success is measured.  Include any metrics that illustrate impact. Excellence in Organizational Operations This award recognizes organizations for overall excellence. The strongest applications will demonstrate active involvement by staff, board members, volunteers and constituents in advancing the mission of the organization. Eligible applicants must have 501(c)(3) nonprofit status for at least five years and have a local governance and management structure in place. Applications that cite examples of best practices within the following areas will receive priority consideration: Governance – Provide examples that demonstrate organizational excellence in board management and engagement. Financial Management & Fundraising – Provide examples that show the organization’s financial management is strong, transparent and accountable.  Describe the organization’s development strategies including adherence to best practices and donor-centered approaches. Evaluation/Community Impact – Cite examples of how outcome data is used to achieve the organization’s mission and how this impacts the community. Awards Eligibility and Criteria In each category, applicant organizations should meet the following general eligibility criteria: Applicant must be a nonprofit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code and based in northwest Ohio or southeast Michigan. Organizations may apply for, and are eligible to win in, more than one award category, but must submit a separate application for each category and must address the criteria specific to each award. Once an organization has received an award, that organization will become ineligible for that same award for the following three years. All organizations are required to submit due diligence documentation with their online application to Greater Toledo Community Foundation. Documentation includes: A copy of the organizational budget for the current fiscal year; A copy of the audited financial statements for the most recent year available – if unavailable, the unaudited income and expense statement and balance sheet must be provided; A list of board members with affiliations; and A copy of the applicant’s tax exemption letter from the Internal Revenue Service. The City of Pasadena is accepting applications for its 2024-2025 Festival and Parade Grant Program. A non-profit arts and culture organization or non-profit social service organization (including but not limited to a chamber of commerce, social service agency, homeowners association or business district) in partnership with an arts and culture organization is eligible to apply for the production of an arts/cultural festival, fair or parade. Festival and Parade Program grants will generally support marketing costs and artists fees in order to foster accessibility, cultural diversity, and geographic equity. The Child Health Research Awards Program by the Charles H. Hood Foundation aims to advance child health by providing grant support to newly independent faculty within New England-based pediatric researchers. The program offers two-year grants of $200,000 ($100,000 per year inclusive of 10% indirects) to researchers who are within five (PhD scientists) or seven (physician-scientists) years of employment following completion of training. The grants support hypothesis-driven clinical, basic science, public health, health services research, and epidemiology projects focused on child health. The U.S. Mission to the UAE announces this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for organizations to submit proposals to implement the Academy of Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) in the UAE. The 14-month program will include a 46-month training and mentorship program to support at least 20 UAE-based, women-owned small and medium enterprises (SMEs) build the knowledge, skills, and networks to expand market reach by taking advantage of the UAE entrepreneurship ecosystem and bilateral trade opportunities. Following the training period participants will have the opportunity to showcase successes at trade shows and policy summits AWE in UAE is a business training program (AWE) that provides UAE-based, women-owned SMEs the knowledge, networks, and access they need to build resilience and grow their businesses. AWE UAE will convene private sector networks, U.S. Government resources/alumni, and public and private resources to establish a network Emirati and long-term UAE resident entrepreneurs and business leaders that have the capacity to develop business growth plans and leverage market expansion and media opportunities. AWE UAE supports U.S.-UAE business partnerships, public-private sponsorships, and builds institutional capacity to increase womens access to economic opportunities. Since 2019, AWE has advanced womens businesses by empowering more than 25,000 women entrepreneurs in 120+ countries. Implemented in the UAE since 2020, AWE has helped 41 women-led business, which to date have raised $7 million in funding, generated $45 million in revenues, and created 500+ jobs

The Hearst Foundations Grant Program aims to support outstanding nonprofits in the United States that are dedicated to improving the lives of individuals from diverse backgrounds. The program focuses on funding organizations that demonstrate exceptional results in creating sustainable employment, improving health and quality of life, increasing academic achievement, promoting arts and sciences, and supporting family stability and self-sufficiency. The Foundations employ a rigorous selection process to identify best-in-class organizations, provide support for impactful programs, and monitor grantee performance to ensure long-term societal benefits. Extra effort is made to reach racially and ethnically diverse communities, immigrant families and new Minnesotans who face the greatest health inequalities, language barriers, and/or may be isolated from county and other community services. Women, Infants, and Children (WIC): The applicant collaborates to increase WIC program awareness and referrals of pregnant and postpartum women and their children so they may receive healthy food, nutrition education and lactation support. Extra effort is made to reach people early in pregnancy and multigenerational African American populations. Family Health and Home Visiting: The applicant collaborates to promote equity in birth outcomes for racially and ethnically diverse communities, especially African American, Native American, Latino/x and immigrant populations. Extra effort is made to support families, fathers and other caregivers, to navigate care before and after birth and to increase cultural and community connections using a holistic approach. Clinical Services: The applicant collaborates to increase awareness and access to vaccines and immunizations, tuberculosis care, sexual and reproductive health services such as HIV and STD testing and treatment, syringe services, wound care, naloxone training and outreach for people using drugs. Environmental Health: The applicant collaborates to find creative ways to increase participation in food scraps pick-up, household hazardous waste drop-off and electronics recycling programs, especially within racially and ethnically diverse communities. They also increase awareness of the Environmental Service Center, the future “one stop shop” for recycling and waste collection. Climate Action: The applicant collaborates to increases awareness of climate change and its impacts on health as well as the county’s resources and programs to lessen those impacts.
