The Barbour County Community Foundation enhances life in Barbour County by awarding grants in areas such as arts and culture, health and human services, education, public recreation, beautification, and youth services. To be eligible, applicants must be private, non-profit organizations with 501(c)(3) status or public institutions, with programs based in Barbour County. The application period is from October 1st to December 15th annually, and submissions must be mailed to the Foundation. An independent committee reviews applications and makes final decisions, with successful applicants notified shortly after and a payment schedule developed. Grant renewed every year. The organization prefers to support program-based requests but may also consider fundraising activities where most of the proceeds go directly to the organization. Funding requests should benefit a large number of people, offer participation in local educational programs, have clear and measurable goals, establish means for evaluation and reporting, provide leadership and development programs, target youth, and include financial commitments from other funding organizations. Toyota does not fund organizations that discriminate or requests from individuals, political organizations, fraternal organizations, churches, labor organizations, non-charitable organizations, athletic organizations or sports teams, individual and/or private schools, or requests covering institutional expenses or deficits. The geographic scope includes specific counties in West Virginia, with limited consideration for statewide programs and additional counties where Toyota team members live. The Logan County Charitable & Educational Foundation makes annual discretionary grants to charitable organizations in the Logan area for the benefit of the community in areas of education, health and human services, public recreation, civic beautification, and artistic endeavors. These grants are made from the Foundation’s unrestricted fund, as are used to address the community’s most pressing needs and promising opportunities.
